A Million Hands

UK Scouting launched this summer the Million Hands campaign. The aim is to have Scouting make a difference in your local, national and international communities tackling four very serious issues chosen directly by youth members of Scouting.

The issues the Million Hands project looks to tackle are:

  •                                                                 Dementia
  •                                                                 Disability
  •                                                                 Mental Wellbeing and Resistance
  •                                                                 Clean Water and Sanitation

Wow. What a list.

Just looking at that with a Leaders eyes, thinking of what to do to tackle those issues in sufficient depth is daunting and I want to say how proud I am that young people in Scouting didn’t choose the easy options. These topics are serious, life changing matters and it’s great our young people chose to challenge themselves in this way

Dan is a Scouter in Sheffield and the very proud leader of Norfolk District Explorers. When not running the Explorers, he also runs the group website, is the Assistant GSL, County Brand Adviser, Exec Member and Young Leader Co-Ordinator. Somewhere in the middle of all that he finds time for a full time job, wife and daughter. Dan and Becki met through Scouting together and she is more understanding than most about the adventures and mud!
